Crazy~~ for MACARON!!

      
              According to online food resource Epicurious.com, macarons will be the sweet sensation (the capacity to have such feelings or perceptions 感觉) of  2011. Signs of macaron madness are evident over in Malaysia, too. More and more bakeries and cafes are introducing macarons in their menus, some more successful than others.
But first, what in the name of heavenly desserts are macarons?
             Actually, it is a type of light, baked confection(a dish made with sweet ingredients甜点), described as either small cakes or meringue-like cookies depending on their consistency(the way in which a substance holds together坚硬度). The macaron is from France and is pronounced mac-a-rohhn (insert French accent).

              However, it is important to know that the macaron is different from the macaroon.The macaroon is a coconut-based cookie. It is often dipped in chocolate and isn’t especially pretty to look at. The macaron, on the other hand, comes in a kaleidoscope (A constantly changing pattern or sequence of objects or elements千变万化) of colours. It is a dainty (something good to eat精致的), airy pastry where two cookies sandwich a rich filling. The cookies are rounded and smooth; they are crispy and airy on the top but soft and chewy in the middle.

              Only three ingredients go into the macaron: egg whites, ground almonds and sugar. However, don’t let the simple ingredients deceive you: macarons are a difficult pastry to master, even for professional bakers and chefs.

       The exact origin of the macaron isn’t clear.The macaron as we know it today, however, was made famous by Pierre Defontaines in the 1930s.
              I was interested in such a dessert when I heard a chef talking about it as a dessert only can found in big hotel. Then I have my imagination of how it taste =)
I first tried this dessert last month. It looked cute and beautiful as I thought. It was a bit crispy outside and soft inside. I love this dessert very much!! As I saw these colorful cute things, I fall in love with it! I felt so happy and excited when having my little macaron. It was not too sweet but when you take a bite on it, you will feel bliss!!
